Vor ein paar Tagen erschien die erste Beta des neuen Ubuntu Betriebssystems. Grund genug für einen kleinen Testdrive.Da ich ein Freund der USB-Sticks bin, lag es auf der Hand das Ubuntu 10.04 Beta auf einen solchen zu installieren. Dazu braucht es nicht viel:
(1) Einen relative schnellen USB-Stick **
(2) das Ubuntu image (iso) - PC (Intel x86) desktop CD
(3) Unetbootin

(3) Unetbootin
und natürlich einen Windows oder Linux Komputer mit dem sich das Ganze "installieren" läßt.
Erste Eindrücke
In der Tat scheint der Bootvorgang wesentlich schneller als vorher zu sein. Das neue Ubuntu-Theme erscheint erfrischend (obwohl Geschmäcker bekanntlich verschieden sind). Zu meiner größten Überraschung funktionierte das Microsoft eigene "pptp VPN" - out of box :) Einzig das kleine Schlößchen ist jetzt einfarbig und nicht mehr so gut zu erkennen.Auch wurden diverse WLAN-Hardware-Setups automatisch, Bluetooth sowieso erkannt.
Auf den ersten Kurzblick machte das neue Ubuntu 10.04 einen guten Eindruck auf mich und für einen Testdrive zu empfehlen!

Skype geht übrigens auch - einfach die Ubuntu 8.04 32-bit version von der skype.com Seie nehmen, rechts im Downloadordner auf .deb klicken und das Prozedere durchlaufen lassen.
ReplyDeleteFalls Prob mit Darstellung der Optionsmöglichkeiten, einfach das Farbthema auf "Gtk2" ändern, dann ist das Auswahlmenu sichtbar(er)

There appears to be a problem with vmware's Easy Install script for Ubuntu 10.04 (beta). It appears as thought the easy install process sets the keyboard model to 'SKIP' during the install process, which is not a valid keyboard model.
Note that everything seems to work fine after installing Ubuntu 10.04 until you apply Ubuntu updates. After updates are installed the keyboard input is broken at the gnome login screen. I was able to use the on-screen keyboard to gain entry (note that others were not able to use the on-scren keyboard to login). After getting logged in the keyboard seems to work. The problem is present only at the Gnome login screen.
Running 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-setup' to configure a valid keyboard model resolves the issue.
The problem is observed on Windows, Mac and Linux host systems and 32-bit and 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04 Beta (Lucid) guest OS.
The VMware Easy Install script should be corrected to supply a valid keyboard model."

ReplyDeleteWow! Viele Updates von den Ubuntu-servern, aber bis jetzt fast keine Probleme, außer beim Netzwerktool geht das PING nicht und Programm stürzt ab :(
